Quick Snack Ideas
By Jonathan Uphoff
Do you ever find yourself in a bind or just feel like
there is no time to fit all your meals in throughout
the day? Here are some quick, easy, and healthy foods that can eliminate this problem.
Fruits and vegetables are some of the easiest and
most convenient foods that make a delicious snack.
They don’t require preparation and are easy to keep
around you wherever you may be. Fruits and vegetables
are low in calories and contain a variety of important
nutrients. Here are some examples of some fruits and
vegetables you can eat and the amount of calories in
each.
-A medium-sized apple: approximately 72 calories
-A medium-sized orange: approximately 62 calories
-A cup of grapes: approximately 110 calories
-A large peach: approximately 60 calories
-A medium-sized pear: approximately 96 calories
-A cup of strawberries: approximately 53 calories
-A cup of broccoli: 31 calories
-10 celery sticks: approximately 6 calories
-A cup of carrots: approximately 52 calories
-A cup of sliced cucumber: approximately 16 calories
Yogurt and cottage cheese are other types of healthy
snacks that are quick and convenient. When choosing
yogurt, make sure you buy a brand that is fat-free or
low in fat and contains no added sugars. A container
of fat-free and no sugar added yogurt contains
approximately 60 calories and has about 5 grams of
protein. As with yogurt, make sure you choose cottage
cheese that is fat-free or low in fat. A cup of
cottage cheese has about 125 calories and 25 grams of
protein.
